MAE URGES FUNDING CONFERENCE

MAE President Erica Jones issues a request for Legislators to conference on a reliable, sustainable, fair and fully-funded formula for public schools.

Mississippi Association of Educators President Erica Jones issues the following statement:

“MAE encourages the Senate and House Education Committees to meet in conference during the regular session to establish a sustainable, reliable, and full-funding formula for our public schools.

Our school districts need to know their budgets well in advance of the start of the 2024-25 school year, especially since a number of districts are now operating on year-round schedules.

We are grateful that both chambers have placed full funding of our public schools at the tops of their agendas.  We are depending on them to iron out differences and ACT NOW on behalf of every student, education professional, family, and community in this state.”
